I found this to be excellent reading and a proven book (Cholesterol Down, by Janet Bond Brill, Ph.D., R.D., LDN) for myself. It brings enhanced meaning to the saying “that you are what you eat,” and apparently eating the right foods for your body can make a big difference. My facts, my cholesterol, before and after eating the 10 recommended foods are as follows:

Before: Cholesterol data, 08/02/2010, overall: 226 (greater than 200 is high), triglyceride: 87 (less than 150 is great), HDL: 60 (40-90 is great, higher is better), and LDL: 149 (anything above a 100 is high). After doing the recommended 10 steps and getting my lab results. My results are:

After: Cholesterol data, 11/02/2010, overall: 192 (less than 200 is ideal, basically an improvement of 34 points, or 15 percent improvement from 226), triglyceride: 108 (less than 150 is great or ideal), HDL: 68 (40-90 is great, higher is better, mine improved), and LDL: 102 (basically a 47 point improvement or a better than 31 percent improvement.

Eating the right foods can make a difference, but for most folks eating the recommended foods isn’t easy, and in my opinion, it would be a great lifestyle change that the average person would be unable to sustain.

I love this book, and don’t think eating food is anything more than a means to provide the body its needed nutrition of vitamins and minerals. I don’t dreams or have nightmares about eating or not eating food in general, so this book is very doable for me. My wife on the other hand is not having that easy of a time following the recommended steps. In any case, she too has improved greatly in whatever steps she finds possible to adopt. Good luck if you choose to follow the following steps!
