Sorry to say but there is a definite connection between calorie-laden diets high in the “deadly triangle” salt, fat and sugar and the development of overweight and obesity and the associated epidemic of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sadly, these are ingredients that truly define Paula Dean’s style of cooking. There is a reason that the American Heart Association blacklists these foods–saturated and trans fats, sodium and “added sugars” as to be perfectly frank–a diet such as this causes disease. In fact, most people with diabetes will die of heart disease. So now is the time for Paula to start eating heart-healthy.
