Include heart healthy fish in your daily diet.
Fish is good for heart health and prevents various diseases.

It would not be wrong to say that fish is a super food. Being the richest source of omega-3 fatty acids, fish is packed with multitude of vitamins and minerals.

These essential omega-3 fatty acids can only be obtained from either fish or supplements. For long term health, the ideal choice is to opt for natural food rather than supplements. Oily fish such as halibut, salmon, rainbow trout and sardines are the richest source of omega-3 fatty acids.

The American Heart Association recommends eating fish at least two times a week for maintaining a balanced diet. Unlike meat products, fish is not high in saturated fat but provides a good amount of protein to body. Here is why you must include fish in your regular diet.

Heart-healthy food

Research has shown that people who consume fish are less prone to developing heart disease. Oils present in fish prevent blood clotting, lower blood pressure, lower bad cholesterol and improve blood vessel elasticity. All this helps improve cardiovascular health.

People who have already suffered their first heart attack and even those who do not have heart disease – for everyone fish is a healthy addition to daily diet.

Fish prevents cancer

Studies have shown that people who don’t eat fish run double the risk of developing cancer. Shellfish such as lobsters and crabs boast of cancer-fighting properties. Regular consumption of fish can decrease the risk of several types of cancers – breast, oral, ovary and prostate cancer.

Do your body and your health a favor and consume moderate quantity of fish regularly, if not more.

Fish fights depression

Combat depression with fish. Its omega-3 fatty acids raise the levels of serotonin – a chemical that relay signals from one part of the brain to another. Imbalance in serotonin levels influence mood that often result in depression. Simply put, to feel happy, eat lots of fish!

Good for overall health

People whose diet includes fish have much lower chances of developing Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia. Eating fish prevents inflammatory conditions that lead to arthritis and also help balance blood sugar levels.

Apart from all this, fish works wonders for your skin. For overall health and a glowing skin, eat  heart healthy fish as often as possible.
